10-5 神を否認すること The Denial of God

病気の神の儀式は奇妙なうえに、かなり厳しいことを要求する。
The rituals of the god of sickness are strange and very demanding.

喜びは絶対にゆるされない、憂うつな気分でいることが病気の神にたいする忠誠心のしるしであるから。
Joy is never permitted, for depression is the sign of allegiance to him.

憂うつな気持ちになるのは、「あなたが神を否認する」と誓ったことを意味する。
Depression means that you have forsworn God.

神を冒涜することを怖がる者はたくさんいるが、それが何を意味するかは理解していない。
Many are afraid of blasphemy, but they do not understand what it means.

その人たちは、「神を否定するとは自分自身の真のアイデンティティーを否定すること」だとは悟っていないし、この意味において、確かに罪の報いは死だといえる。
They do not realise that to deny God is to deny their own Identity, and in this sense the wages of sin is death.

きわめて文字どおり、生命を否認すればその反対のものを見て取ることになる。というのもどのようなかたちであれ否認することはすべて、あるものをそうでないものと取り替えるということであるから。
The sense is very literal; denial of life perceives its opposite, as all forms of denial replace what is with what is not.

実際は、だれもこんなことはできないのだが、あなたが自分にはできると思えるし、すでにそうしたと信じていることには論争の余地もない。
No one can really do this, but that you think you can and believe you have is beyond dispute.




しかしながら神を否定すると、その結果として必然的に投影することになり、「あなたは自分自身ではなくて他の者が自分に対してそうした」と信じるようになるということを忘れないように。
Do not forget, however, that to deny God will inevitably result in projection, and you will believe that others and not yourself have done this to you.

あなたは自分の伝えるメッセージを受け取る必要がある。それはあなたが望むメッセージなのだから。
You must receive the message you give because it is the message you want.

あなたはきょうだいたちが自分に伝えてくれることで、そのきょうだいたちを判断すると信じているかも知れないが、あなたは自分で伝えるメッセージできょうだいたちを判断している。
You may believe that you judge your brothers by the messages they give you, but you have judged them by the message you give to them.

自分が喜びを否認していることを、きょうだいたちのせいにしないほうがいい。さもないときょうだいたちのなかにこそ、あなたに喜びをもたらしてくれる火花があるのに、それが見えなくなる。
Do not attribute your denial of joy to them, or you cannot see the spark in them that would bring joy to you.

そうした火花はないと認めると憂うつさを感じてしまう。あなたが自分のきょうだいたちにその火花はないと見るたびに、神を否定していることになるのだから。
It is the denial of the spark that brings depression, for whenever you see your brothers without it, you are denying God.




神を否認すると忠誠を誓うのが自我の宗教である。
Allegiance to the denial of God is the ego's religion.

病気の神が、健康を無視するようにと強要するのは言うまでもない。健全であるとは病気の神が生き残るのに真っ向から反抗することであるから。
The god of sickness obviously demands the denial of health, because health is in direct opposition to its own survival.

しかしこんなことがあなたにとって何を意味するか、よく考えてみてほしい。
But consider what this means to you.

病気でないかぎり、自分で作った神々を持ち続けるはずがない。病気のときしかそんな神々を望むことは有り得ないだろうから。
Unless you are sick you cannot keep the gods you made, for only in sickness could you possibly want them.

では神を冒涜するとは、神を破滅させるのではなく、自滅的になることだ。
Blasphemy, then, is self-destructive, not God-destructive.

これは、あなたは病気でいるために、自分自身を知らないでいるつもりだということを意味する。
It means that you are willing not to know yourself in order to be sick.

あなたが作った（自我の）神はこんな捧げ物を強要するわけだが、それは自分が正常でない心の状態で作った神なので、そんな（自我の）神は正気を逸した想念そのものだ。
This is the offering your god demands because, having made him out of your insanity, he is an insane idea.

そんな（自我の）神にはたくさんの形があり、色々な違うもののように思えるかもしれないが、「神を否認する、という一つの想念」にすぎない。
He has many forms, but although he may seem to be many different things he is but one idea;窶杯he denial of God.




病気と死は神の意志に反して、御子の心に入り込んだように思える。
Sickness and death seemed to enter the mind of God's Son against His Will.

「神を攻撃した」ことが、神の子に自分には父親がいないと思わせ、その憂うつさから自分で憂うつの神を作ってしまった。
The 'attack on God' made His Son think he was fatherless, and out of his depression he made the god of depression.

こんなものを喜びに取って変えたというのも、神の子は創造主であったとはいえ、そのまえにまず自分が創造されたという事実を受け入れようとしないからだ。
This was his alternative to joy, because he would not accept the fact that, although he was a creator, he had been created.

けれども神の子は、自分にとって唯一の助けである御父なくしては、本当にどうすることもできないのである。
Yet the Son is helpless without the Father, Who alone is his Help.




わたしが前に述べたことだが、あなたは自分自身では何もできない。しかしあなたは自分自身で成りたっているのではないのだ。
I said before that of yourself you can do nothing, but you are not of yourself.

もし成りたつのだったら、自分で作ったものは本当だということになり、それから決して逃れられないだろう。
If you were, what you have made would be true, and you could never escape.

あなたが自分を作ったのではないからこそ、何一つ心配する必要はないのだ。
It is because you did not make yourself that you need be troubled over nothing.

あなたの（自我の）神々は取るに足らない。御父はそんなものを創造しなかったのだから。
Your gods are nothing, because your Father did not create them.

あなたには自分の創造主に似ていない創造主たちを作れはしない、それは創造主が御自身に似ていない御子を創造したはずがないというのと同じこと。
You cannot make creators who are unlike your Creator, any more than He could have created a Son who was unlike Him.

創造とは分かち合うことであるなら、それ自体に似ていないものを創造することは有り得ない。
If creation is sharing, it cannot create what is unlike itself. It can share only what it is.

あるがままのすがたを分かち合えるだけだ。憂うつさは孤立することから生じる、したがってそれは創造されたはずなどないのである。
Depression is isolation, and so it could not have been created.



神の子よ、あなたは罪を犯してはいない、ただかなり思い違いをしてきただけである。
Son of God, you have not sinned, but you have been much mistaken.

けれどもこうしたことは訂正できるし、神はあなたを助ける。あなたが神に逆らって罪を犯したはずがないと分かっているから。
Yet this can be corrected and God will help you, knowing that you could not sin against Him.

あなたは神を愛したからこそその神を否定したのであり、もし自分が神を愛していると認めたら、神を拒めるはずがないと分かっていた。
You denied Him because you loved Him, knowing that if you recognised your love for Him, you could not deny Him.

したがって神を否認するとは、あなたは神を愛しているし、神に愛されていると分かっているという意味だ。
Your denial of Him therefore means that you love Him, and that you know He loves you.

自分が何かを否定するとは、かつてそれを知っていたに違いないのだということを思い出してほしい。
Remember that what you deny you must have once known.

そして、もし否認することを受け入れるなら、それの取り消しも受け入れることができる。
And if you accept denial, you can accept its undoing.



あなたの御父はあなたを否定してはいない。
Your Father has not denied you.

仕返しをすることもない。ただあなたに戻るようにと呼んでいるのは確かだ。
He does not retaliate, but He does call to you to return.

あなたの呼びかけに神は答えてくれていないと思うときには、あなたが神の呼びかけに答えていないということ。
When you think He has not answered your call, you have not answered His.

神は御子を愛していので、御子としての身分のあらゆる部分からあなたを呼んでいる。
He calls to you from every part of the Sonship, because of His Love for His Son.

もしあなたが神のメッセージを聞くなら、神はあなたに答えたということだし、正しく聞けばそれがわかってくるだろう。
If you hear His message He has answered you, and you will learn of Him if you hear aright.

神の愛は自らが創造したあらゆるもののなかにある。御子はいたるところにいるのだから。
The Love of God is in everything He created, for His Son is everywhere.

あなたのきょうだいたちを平安な思いで見るがいい。そうすれば神はあなたからの捧げものに感謝して、あなたの胸の中を神の思いで一気に満たしてくれるだろう。
Look with peace upon your brothers, and God will come rushing into your heart in gratitude for your gift to Him.




病気の神に癒しを期待しないで、愛の神にのみそれを期待することだ。癒しとは神を承認することであるから。
Do not look to the god of sickness for healing but only to the God of love, for healing is the acknowledgement of Him.

あなたが神を承認すると、神はあなたを承認するのをやめたというためしはないと分かるし、神があなたを承認しているから、自分が実在すると分かってくる。
When you acknowledge Him you will know that He has never ceased to acknowledge you, and that in His acknowledgement of you lies your being.

あなたは病気ではないし、死ぬこともできない。
You are not sick and you cannot die.

しかし、自分自身を病気になったり死んだりするようなものと混同することは有り得る。
But you can confuse yourself with things that do.

ただしそんなことは神を冒涜することになるということを思いだしてほしい。それはあなたが神とその創造とを愛をもたずに見ているという意味なのだから、それに神を自身の創造したものから分離させることなどできないのである。
Remember, though, that to do this is blasphemy, for it means that you are looking without love on God and His creation, from which He cannot be separated.




永遠なるもののみが愛される。愛が死ぬことはないのだから。
Only the eternal can be loved, for love does not die.

神にぞくするものは永久に神のものであるし、あなたはたしかに神にぞくしている。
What is of God is His forever, and you are of God.

神は自身を苦しませるようなことをなさるだろうか。
Would He allow Himself to suffer?

それに、何であれ御自身にとって受け入れられないようなものを、御子に差し出すようなことをするだろうか。
And would He offer His Son anything that is not acceptable to Him?

もしあなたが自分自身を神が創造したそのままに受け入れるなら、あなたには苦しむことなどできなくなる。
If you will accept yourself as God created you, you will be incapable of suffering.

けれどもこうするには、あなたが神を自分の創造主として承認しなければならない。
Yet to do this you must acknowledge Him as your Creator.

そうしなければ罰されるというわけではない。
This is not because you will be punished otherwise.

単に、自分の御父を承認するとは、あなた自身をあるがままに承認するということだからだ。
It is merely because your acknowledgement of your Father is the acknowledgement of yourself as you are.

あなたの御父が創造したあなたは、全く罪がなく、苦痛を全然知らず、どのようにも絶対に苦しむことはない。
Your Father created you wholly without sin, wholly without pain and wholly without suffering of any kind.

もし神を否定すれば、あなたは自分の心に罪や苦痛や苦しみをもたらすことになる。あなたの心には神が与えた力があるのだから。
If you deny Him you bring sin, pain and suffering into your own mind because of the power He gave it.

あなたの心は世界を創造できる。しかしその心は自由であるから、自ら創造するものを否定することもできる。
Your mind is capable of creating worlds, but it can also deny what it creates because it is free.



あなたはどれほど自分自身を否定しているか悟っていない。それに神はあなたを愛しているからこそ、あなたがそんなことをするままにさせたくないと、どれほど思っているのかということも悟ってはいない。
You do not realise how much you have denied yourself, and how much God, in His Love, would not have it so.

けれども神はあなたに干渉しないだろう。神はもし御子が自由でないとすれば、御子だとは分かることができないのだから。
Yet He would not interfere with you, because He would not know His Son if he were not free.

あなたに干渉するとは自らを攻撃すということになるが、神は正気を失ってはいない。
To interfere with you would be to attack Himself, and God is not insane.

神を否定するなら、あなたが正気を失っていることは確かである。
When you deny Him you are insane.

自分の正気を逸した状態を神に共有してほしいとでもいうのだろうか。
Would you have Him share your insanity?

神は御子を愛するのをやめるようなことは決してしないし、御子が神を愛さなくなるようなことも絶対にない。
God will never cease to love His Son, and His Son will never cease to love Him.

御子はそうした状況に創造されたのだし、いつまでもそのように神の心のなかにとどまることになる。
That was the condition of His Son's creation, fixed forever in the Mind of God.

これが分かれば心は正常だ。
To know that is sanity.

それを否定するのは心が正常でない状態にあるということ。
To deny it is insanity.

神はあなたを創造する際に自らをあなたに与えたのだし、神の賜物は永遠である。
God gave Himself to you in your creation, and His gifts are eternal.

あなたは神に自分自身を拒むつもりだろうか。
Would you deny yourself to Him?



あなたが神に捧げるものから、神の国は御子に戻してもらえる。
Out of your gifts to Him the Kingdom will be restored to His Son.

御子は自分のために創造されていたものや、自ら御父の名において創造したものを受け入れないと拒絶することで、神の賜物から自分自身を遠ざけてしまった。
His Son removed himself from His gift by refusing to accept what had been created for him, and what he had created in the Name of his Father.

天国は御子の帰りを待っている。そこは神の子の住み処として創造されたのであるから。
Heaven waits for his return, for it was created as the dwelling place of God's Son.

そこ以外のところや、他の状況のもとにいたのでは、あなたの気持ちは我が家に居るように休まることはない。
You are not at home anywhere else, or in any other condition.

あなたのために創造された喜びを自分自身に拒まないように。あなたの惨めな状態は自分で自分のために作ったのだから。
Do not deny yourself the joy that was created for you for the misery you have made for yourself.

神はあなたに、自分で作ったものを取り消す手段を与えている。
God has given you the means for undoing what you have made.

耳をしっかり傾ければ、自分が何なのか、それをどのようにすれば思い出せるか分かってくる。
Listen, and you will learn how to remember what you are.




神が自分の子供たちは全く罪がないと分かっているとすれば、その子供たちが罪を犯していると見て取るのは、神を冒涜することになる。
If God knows His children as wholly sinless, it is blasphemous to perceive them as guilty.

もし神が自分の子供たちは苦痛を全然知らないと分かっているのなら、苦しみをどこかに見て取るのは神を冒涜することになる。
If God knows His children as wholly without pain, it is blasphemous to perceive suffering anywhere.

神が自分の子供たちは完全に喜びに満ちていると分かっているとすれば、憂うつな気分でいるのは神を冒涜することになる。
If God knows His children to be wholly joyous, it is blasphemous to feel depressed.

このような錯覚全部、それに他にも神を冒涜することは色々なかたちであらわれるだろうが、どれもみな創造をあるがままに受け入れるのを拒否することである。
All of these illusions, and the many other forms that blasphemy may take, are refusals to accept creation as it is.

神が御子を完全に創造したのなら、あなたも御子の実在を知るには、そのように御子を見るようにならなければいけない。
If God created His Son perfect, that is how you must learn to see him to learn of his reality.

そしてあなたは、御子としての身分にあるものとして、自分の実在を知るためには、自分自身を完全に創造されたものと見なければならないのである。
And as part of the Sonship, that is how you must see yourself to learn of yours.




神が創造しなかったものなど何も知覚しないほうがいい。さもないとあなたは神を否定していることになる。
Do not perceive anything God did not create or you are denying Him.

神の父性こそ唯一の父性であり、それはあなたのものであるというのも、ただ神がそれをあなたに与えられたからである。
His is the only Fatherhood, and it is yours only because He has given it to you.

自分で自分にする贈り物など無意味だが、あなたが自分で創造したものに贈る物は神のに似ている。そうした贈り物は神の御名において与えられたのであるから。
Your gifts to yourself are meaningless, but your gifts to your creations are like His, because they are given in His Name.

だからあなたが創造したものは、神のと同じように実在的なものだ。
That is why your creations are as real as His.

けれども本当の御子を知るには、本当の父性が承認されなければならない。
Yet the real Fatherhood must be acknowledged if the real Son is to be known.

あなたは正常に機能しないようなものを自分で作り、そんなものを自分が本当に創造したものだと信じている。というのも病気になった姿などを知覚し、それが神の子たちだと信じるのであるから。
You believe that the sick things you have made are your real creations, because you believe that the sick images you perceive are the sons of God.

ただ神の父性を受け入れてはじめて、なにかをもつことが可能になる。その父性があなたにあらゆるものを与えたのだから。
Only if you accept the Fatherhood of God will you have anything, because His Fatherhood gave you everything. That is why to deny Him is to deny yourself.



それで神を否定すると、自分自身を否定することになるわけである。傲慢であれば愛を否認することになる、愛は分かち合い、傲慢さは与えるべきものも与えずにおくのであるから。
Arrogance is the denial of love, because love shares and arrogance withholds.

その両方があなたに望ましく思えるかぎり、選択という概念を、たとえそれが神の概念でないにしても、あなたは持ち続ける。
As long as both appear to you to be desirable the concept of choice, which is not of God, will remain with you.

こうしたことは永遠においては本当ではないとはいえ、時間においては確かに本当なので、時間があなたの心のなかで続くあいだは選択があるだろう。
While this is not true in eternity it is true in time, so that while time lasts in your mind there will be choices.

時間そのものもあなたが選んだこと。
Time itself is your choice.

永遠を思い出す気があるのなら、永遠なるものだけを見つめなければならない。
If you would remember eternity, you must look only on the eternal.

もしあなたが自分自身、束の間のことに心を奪われるにまかせるなら、時間のうちに生きている。
If you allow yourself to become preoccupied with the temporal, you are living in time.

いつものように、あなたの選択はあなたが何を重んじるかで決まる。
As always, your choice is determined by what you value.

時間と永遠が両方とも本当では有り得ない。互いに否定しあっているのであるから。
Time and eternity cannot both be real, because they contradict each other.

あなたが時を超越したものだけを本物として受け入れるなら、永遠なるものを理解し始め、自分のものとするであろう。
If you will accept only what is timeless as real, you will begin to understand eternity and make it yours.

10-4 病気の最後 The End of Sickness

 （自我が考えだすような）魔術はすべて、和解できないものを和解させようとする試みである。
All magic is an attempt at reconciling the irreconcilable.

宗教はすべて、和解できないものは和解させられないと再認識することだ。
All religion is the recognition that the irreconcilable cannot be reconciled.

病気と完全なすがたとは両立しない。
Sickness and perfection are irreconcilable.

神があなたを完全に創造したとすれば、あなたは確かに完全である。
If God created you perfect, you are perfect.

もしあなたが自分は病気になることが有り得ると信じるなら、神より他のものを神にしていることになる。
If you believe you can be sick, you have placed other gods before Him.

神はあなたが作った病気の神と戦ってはいないが、あなたは戦っている。
God is not at war with the god of sickness you made, but you are.

そのような病気の神は、神に逆らうという決心を象徴しており、あなたはそんな病気の神を神の意志と和解させられないので、病気の神に恐れを抱くわけである。
He is the symbol of deciding against God, and you are afraid of him because he cannot be reconciled with God's Will.

もしその病気の神を攻撃すると、そんな神を自分にとって本物にすることになる。
If you attack him, you will make him real to you.

しかしその病気の神が、あなたにとってどのような形で現れようと、またどこに見えると思えるにせよ、自分はそんなものを崇拝しないと拒否すれば、実存しない状態において作られた病気の神は、その状態へと消え去るだろう。
But if you refuse to worship him in whatever form he may appear to you, and wherever you think you see him, he will disappear into the nothingness out of which he was made.




実在はかげりのない心にのみ分かり始める。
Reality can dawn only on an unclouded mind.

それはいつでも受け入れられるようになってはいるが、受け入れるかどうかは、あなたの気持ちしだいだ。
It is always there to be accepted, but its acceptance depends on your willingness to have it.

実在を知るには、当然、実在性のないものをそのままに判断するという気持ちを要する。
To know reality must involve the willingness to judge unreality for what it is.

価値の無いものを見過ごすには、正しく評価するあなたの能力によって、単にそれを正確に判断したうえで、手放すだけのこと。
To overlook nothingness is merely to judge it correctly, and because of your ability to evaluate it truly, to let it go.

叡知は錯覚で一杯の心には分るはずがない、真理と錯覚は両立しないのだから。
Knowledge cannot dawn on a mind full of illusions, because truth and illusions are irreconcilable.

真理はなにひとつ欠けたところのない全体を表し、心の一部分によって分かり得るものではない。
Truth is whole, and cannot be known by part of a mind.




一なる子を、部分的に病んだものとして知覚することはできない。そのように知覚することは、それを全然見ていないということであるから。
The Sonship cannot be perceived as partly sick, because to perceive it that way is not to perceive it at all.

一なる子がひとつであるとするなら、すべての点においてひとつである。
If the Sonship is one, it is one in all respects.

一体性は分割できない。
Oneness cannot be divided.

もしあなたが他の神々を知覚するなら、あなたの心は分裂しており、その分裂を制限することなどできないだろう。それは自分の心の一部を神の意志から取り去ったことを示すのだから。
If you perceive other gods your mind is split, and you will not be able to limit the split, because it is the sign that you have removed part of your mind from God's Will.

その部分が制しきれなくなっていることを意味している。
This means it is out of control.

制しきれなくなるとは理性を失うということであって、そうなると心は確かに理性的に判断することなどできなくなってしまう。
To be out of control is to be out of reason, and then the mind does become unreasonable.

心を間違って定義しておいて、あなたはそれが間違って働いていると見て取っているわけだ。
By defining the mind wrongly, you perceive it as functioning wrongly.




神の法則があなたの心を平安に保ってくれる。その平安こそ神の意志であり、それを維持するために神の法則は定められているのであるから。
God's laws will keep your mind at peace because peace is His Will, and His laws are established to uphold it.

神の法則は自由の法則だが、あなたのは束縛の法則。
His are the laws of freedom, but yours are the laws of bondage.

自由と束縛とは両立しないので、双方の法則を一緒に理解することはできない。
Since freedom and bondage are irreconcilable, their laws cannot be understood together.

神の法則は、ただあなたの為になるように役立つだけであり、そうした神の法則以外にはどんな法則もない。
The laws of God work only for your good, and there are no other laws beside His.

他のものはすべて単に法則がないので、大混乱している。
Everything else is merely lawless and therefore chaotic.

しかし神が創造なさったものは、すべてを神自身、神の法則で護ってくれた。
Yet God Himself has protected everything He created by His laws.

その法則のもとにないものは、何一つ存在しない。
Everything that is not under them does not exist.

「大混乱の法則」とは無意味な言葉だ。
'Laws of chaos' is a meaningless term.

創造は申し分なく法則に即している。ところが大混乱に陥っている状態には神が在ることはないので、そこに意義はない。
Creation is perfectly lawful, and the chaotic is without meaning because it is without God.

あなたは自分の平安を、自ら作った神々に「与えた」というが、そんな神々はそれを受けようと姿を表しはしない。だから与えることはできない。
You have 'given' your peace to the gods you made, but they are not there to take it from you, and you cannot give it to them.




あなたには自由を放棄する自由はない。ただそれを否定するという自由がある。
You are not free to give up freedom, but only to deny it.

神が意図しなかったことをあなたがすることはできない。神が意図しなかったことは起こらないのだから。
You cannot do what God did not intend, because what He did not intend does not happen.

あなたの神々が大混乱をもたらすのではないのだが、あなたは自分でそうだろうと考えて、そんな神々からのものとして受け入れている。
Your gods do not bring chaos; you are endowing them with chaos, and accepting it of them.

こんなことは全く起こっていない。
All this has never been.

神の法則以外には何もあったためしがないし、これからも神の意志以外には何もないだろう。
Nothing but the laws of God has ever been, and nothing but His Will, will ever be.

あなたは神の法則をとおして、また意志によって創造されたのだし、こんな風に創造されたことであなたは創造主と定められた。
You were created through His laws and by His Will, and the manner of your creation established you a creator.

あなたが自分で作ったものは、あまりにもあなたにふさわしいものではないので、ただそれをあるがままに見てみる気になりさえすれば、まずそんなものを望むはずがない。
What you have made is so unworthy of you that you could hardly want it, if you were willing to see it as it is.

全く取るに足らないものだと分るだろう。
You will see nothing at all.

そしてあなたの洞察力で自動的にそんなものを越えて、あなたの中とまわりにあるものを見つめるようになる。
And your vision will automatically look beyond it, to what is in you and all around you.

実在はあなたが間に置く障害物を突破することはできないが、自分でそんなものを取り除けるなら、実在があなたを完全に包むことだろう。
Reality cannot break through the obstructions you interpose, but it will envelop you completely when you let them go.



あなたは神に護られているということを体験したなら、偶像を作ることなど思いもよらないことになる。
When you have experienced the protection of God, the making of idols becomes inconceivable.

神の心のなかには奇妙な心像などないし、神の心にないものがあなたの心のなかにあるはずもない、あなたの心は一つであり、その心は神に属するのだから。
There are no strange images in the Mind of God, and what is not in His Mind cannot be in yours, because you are of one mind and that mind belongs to Him.

それは神に属するからこそあなたのものでもある、というのも神にとっては所有とは分かち合うことだからである。
It is yours because it belongs to Him, for to Him ownership is sharing.

それにそうしたことが神にあてはまるとすれば、あなたにとってもあてはまる。
And if it is so for Him, it is so for you.

神の定義することがまさに神の法則となる。それによって宇宙をあるがままのすがたに確立したのだから。
His definitions are His laws, for by them He established the universe as what it is.

あなたが偽物の神々を自分自身とあなたの実在との間に置こうと試みても、真理には少しも影響を及ぼしはしない。
No false gods you attempt to interpose between yourself and your reality affect truth at all.

平安はあなたのものだというのも、神があなたを創造してくれたからである。
Peace is yours because God created you.

そして、他には何一つ創造しなかった。
And He created nothing else.




奇跡は偽の神々をみな捨てさった神の子が行うことであり、その神の子は自分のきょうだい達にも、同じようにするようにと呼びかける。
The miracle is the act of a Son of God who has laid aside all false gods, and calls on his brothers to do likewise.

それは信頼に基づく行為といえる。自分のきょうだいにそれができると気づくことであるから。
It is an act of faith, because it is the recognition that his brother can do it.

そのきょうだいの心のうちなる聖霊に呼びかけることであり、その呼びかけは一つになることで強められる。
It is a call to the Holy Spirit in his mind, a call that is strengthened by joining.

奇跡を行う者は神の声を聞いたので、病気のきょうだいが自ら病気だと信じていても、それに同調しないで、そのきょうだいのそんな信念を弱くして、その人のなかの神の声を強める。
Because the miracle worker has heard God's Voice, he strengthens It in a sick brother by weakening his belief in sickness, which he does not share.

一つの心にある力がもう一つの心のなかに光をそそぎ込むことができる。神の明りは全部同じ火花で点されたのであるから。
The power of one mind can shine into another, because all the lamps of God were lit by the same spark.

その火花はあらゆるところにあるし、永久不滅のものである。
It is everywhere and it is eternal.




そうした火花だけしか残っていないことが多いのは、偉大な光線がおおい隠されているからだ。
In many only the spark remains, for the Great Rays are obscured.

しかし神がその火花を消さずに保ちつづけてきたので、偉大な光線が完全に忘れられてしまうことは絶対にない。
Yet God has kept the spark alive so that the Rays can never be completely forgotten.

もしあなたが小さな火花を見さえすれば、それより大きな光が分るようになる、その光線があるのが見えていないだけなのだから。
If you but see the little spark you will learn of the greater light, for the Rays are there unseen.

その火花を知覚することで癒されるが、そのより大きな光を知ることで創造することができるようになる。
Perceiving the spark will heal, but knowing the light will create.

だがもとの状態に戻るには、まず小さな光を認める必要がある、なぜなら分離状態とは、いわばきわめて重要なものから小さなものへと身を落としたようなものだから。
Yet in the returning the little light must be acknowledged first, for the separation was a descent from magnitude to littleness.

しかし今でもその火花そのものは、大きな光と同じように純粋だ、それは創造のために残こされた呼びかけであるから。
But the spark is still as pure as the great light, because it is the remaining call of creation.

それを心から信じてほしい、そうすれば神自らあなたの信頼に答えてくれることだろう。
Put all your faith in it, and God Himself will answer you.

10-3 病気の神 The God of Sickness

あなたは（本来）神を攻撃してはいないし、神を愛しているということは確かである。
You have not attacked God and you do love Him.

あなたは自分の真実のすがたを変えられるだろうか。
Can you change your reality?

だれ一人、自分自身を破滅させようと意図できるものはいない。
No one can will to destroy himself.

あなたが自分自身を攻撃していると思うなら、それはこれが自分だと思っているすがたを嫌っているという確かなしるしだ。
When you think you are attacking yourself, it is a sure sign that you hate what you think you are.

そしてそのすがた、ただそれだけを自分で攻撃することは有り得る。
And this, and only this, can be attacked by you.

あなたが思う自分のすがたはきわめて憎悪に満つるものかもしれないし、こんな奇妙な心像があなたにさせることは非常に破壊的になることもある。
What you think you are can be very hateful, and what this strange image makes you do can be very destructive.

けれどもそうした破壊的なことは、そんな心像が本当でないのと同じで本当ではない。とはいえ偶像を作る者たちは確かにそうした偶像に価値を与えようとする。
Yet the destruction is no more real than the image, although those who make idols do worship them.

偶像は何の価値もないものだが、それの崇拝者は病気になっている神の子たちだ。
The idols are nothing, but their worshippers are the Sons of God in sickness.

神はそうした神の子たちを病気から解放し、神の御心に戻すつもりでいる。
God would have them released from their sickness and returned to His Mind.

その神の子たちを助けるのにあなたに必要な力を制限するようなことはしない。あなたにその力を授けてくれたのだから。
He will not limit your power to help them, because He has given it to you.

そうした力こそあなたの救いなので、その力に恐れを抱かないことである。
Do not be afraid of it, because it is your salvation.



あなたを通してあらわれる神の力なくして、病気になった神の子供たちを慰められる存在があるだろうか。
What Comforter can there be for the sick children of God except His power through you?

その存在が神の子としての身分のどこに属するものに受け入れられるか、それは重要ではないということを思いだしてほしい。
Remember that it does not matter where in the Sonship He is accepted.

常にみんなのために受け入れられることになり、あなたの心がその存在を迎え入れるなら、神の子としての身分にある全員にその存在の記憶がよみがえってくる。
He is always accepted for all, and when your mind receives Him the remembrance of Him awakens throughout the Sonship.

あなたのきょうだいたちを、ただ本人たちのために神を受け入れることによって癒してほしい。
Heal your brothers simply by accepting God for them.

あなたたちの心は別々のものではないし、神には唯一の神の子があるだけなので、癒しのための経路をただ一つ持っているだけだ。
Your minds are not separate, and God has only one channel for healing because He has but one Son.

神は自分の子供たち全員と意志の疎通のきずなを持ち続けられるし、そのきずながみんなを一つの心にさせるうえ、神とも一つにならせる。
God's remaining communication link with all His children joins them together, and them to Him.

こうしたことに気づくとみんなを癒すことになる。それはだれも別々になってはいないので、誰ひとり病気ではないと自覚することであるから。
To be aware of this is to heal them because it is the awareness that no one is separate, and so no one is sick.



神の子は病気になることがあると信じると、神の一部は苦しむことが有り得ると信じることになる。
To believe that a Son of God can be sick is to believe that part of God can suffer.

愛は苦しむはずがない、それは攻撃することなどできないのだから。
Love cannot suffer, because it cannot attack.

したがって愛を憶えておくと、それには傷つけられることのない状態が伴うことになる。
The remembrance of love therefore brings invulnerability with it.

神の子の面前では、たとえその人が自分は病気だと信じているとしても、それに同調しないでおくように。あなたがその人の内なる神を受け入れることで、当人が忘れている神の愛を承認することになる。
Do not side with sickness in the presence of a Son of God even if he believes in it, for your acceptance of God in him acknowledges the Love of God he has forgotten.

あなたがその人は神の大切な部分であると認めることで、その当人に自分自身についての真相、自分では否定しているその真相に気づかせるのである。
Your recognition of him as part of God reminds him of the truth about himself, which he is denying.

その人が神を否認するのをあなたが強めたりして、それゆえにあなたが自分を見失うようなことをするだろうか。
Would you strengthen his denial of God and thus lose sight of yourself?

それともその人に自らの完全さに気づかせたうえで、共にあなたたちの創造主を思いだそうとするのだろうか。
Or would you remind him of his wholeness and remember your Creator with him?




神の子が病気になっていると信じると、その人が崇拝するのと同じ偶像を崇拝するということになる。
To believe a Son of God is sick is to worship the same idol he does.

神は偶像崇拝ではなくて、愛を創造したのである。
God created love, not idolatry.

偶像崇拝の形態はすべて創造のへたな模倣であり、そうすることを、分割されすぎているために創造は力を分かち合い、決してその力を奪ったりしないということが分からなくなっているような、正常に機能しなくなった心に教わっている。
All forms of idolatry are caricatures of creation, taught by sick minds too divided to know that creation shares power and never usurps it.

病気は偶像崇拝だ。それはあなたから力を取り上げられると信じることであるから。
Sickness is idolatry, because it is the belief that power can be taken from you.

けれどもこれは不可能なこと。なぜならあなたはすべての力そのものである神の一部だからである。
Yet this is impossible, because you are part of God, Who is all power. A sick god must be an idol, made in the image of what its maker thinks he is.

病気の神は偶像に違いないし、それの作り主が心に描いた神の像に似せて作られたものだといえる。そしてまさにそのように自我は神の子を見て取る。病気の神であり、自ら創りあげたものであり、うぬぼれが強く、非常に邪険なうえに、きわめて傷つきやすいものであると。
And that is exactly what the ego does perceive in a Son of God; a sick god, self-created, self-sufficient, very vicious and very vulnerable.

こんな偶像をあなたは崇拝するだろうか。
Is this the idol you would worship?

こんな像を絶えず注意を怠らずに心に保とうとするだろうか。
Is this the image you would be vigilant to save?

こんなものを失うのを本当に恐れているのだろうか。
Are you really afraid of losing this?




自我の思考体系がもたらすそんな当然の結末を冷静に見た上で、差し出されたものが本当にあなたの望むものかどうかを判断するがいい。
Look calmly at the logical conclusion of the ego's thought system and judge whether its offering is really what you want, for this is what it offers you.

自我があなたに差し出すのはこんな偶像なのだから。これを得るためには、あなたは自分のきょうだいの神性を攻撃し、そのために自分の神性を見失うこともいとわない。
To obtain this you are willing to attack the Divinity of your brothers, and thus lose sight of yours.

そのうえ自ら進んでその神性を隠したままにするつもりでいる。それはあなたが危険から自分を救ってくれるものと思うその偶像を護るためだとするが、それがあなたを救うというそんな危険など存在しない。
And you are willing to keep it hidden, to protect an idol you think will save you from the dangers for which it stands, but which do not exist.



神の国には偶像崇拝者などいないが、ただ神が創造したすべてのものに対する深い感謝の念がある。それは各自が神の大切な部分であると心静かに知っているからだといえる。
There are no idolaters in the Kingdom, but there is great appreciation for everything that God created, because of the calm knowledge that each one is part of Him.

神の子は偶像など知らないが、御父を知っているのは確かである。
God's Son knows no idols, but he does know His Father.

この世において健やかであることは、天国で重んぜられることに相対するものだ。
Health in this world is the counterpart of value in Heaven.

あなたは自分自身を重んじていないので、私の愛いがいのものをあなたに与えるということは私の功徳にはならない。
It is not my merit that I contribute to you but my love, for you do not value yourself.

あなたが自分を重んじないときに病気になるのだが、私があなたを尊重することであなたを癒せる。神の子の価値は一つであるから。
When you do not value yourself you become sick, but my value of you can heal you, because the value of God's Son is one.

「私の平安をあなたに与える」と述べたとき、私は本気で言った。
When I said, 'My peace I give unto you', I meant it.

平安は神から私を通じてあなたに達する。
Peace comes from God through me to you.

自分で求めようとはしないかもしれないが、その平安はあなたのためにある。
It is for you although you may not ask for it.



あるきょうだいが病気だとすれば、それはその人が平安を求めていないからであり、したがってすでにそれが自分のものだとは分かっていない。
When a brother is sick it is because he is not asking for peace, and therefore does not know he has it.

平安を受け入れるとは（自我の）錯覚を否認することだし、病気は錯覚であるということは確かだ。
The acceptance of peace is the denial of illusion, and sickness is an illusion.

けれども神の子はだれでも、単に自分自身のなかにある錯覚を完全に否定することによって、神の国のどこに錯覚があろうが、それを否定する力を持っている。
Yet every Son of God has the power to deny illusions anywhere in the Kingdom, merely by denying them completely in himself.

私はあなたを知っているのであなたを癒せる。
I can heal you because I know you.

あなたのために、あなたの価値も知っている。そしてこの価値があなたを完全なものとする。
I know your value for you, and it is this value that makes you whole.

完全な心は偶像崇拝をしないし、矛盾する法則というものを知らない。
A whole mind is not idolatrous, and does not know of conflicting laws.

私はあなたを癒すつもりでいるが、それは単に私はただ一つメッセージを携えており、その伝言は真実だからだ。
I will heal you merely because I have only one message, and it is true.

あなたが私を信頼しそのメッセージを信頼することで、あなたは完全なものになれる。
Your faith in it will make you whole when you have faith in me.



私は神のメッセージをごまかして伝えるようなことはしないし、あなたも自分がいつも受け入れるだけのものを受け取れると分るようになるにつれて、こうしたことが分かってくる。
I do not bring God's message with deception, and you will learn this as you learn that you always receive as much as you accept.

今、あなたはみんなのために平安を受け入れたうえで、あなたは神の声を聞いたのだから、すべての錯覚から完全に解放される機会をみんなに差し伸べることもできる。
You could accept peace now for everyone, and offer them perfect freedom from all illusions because you heard His Voice.

しかし神以外のどんなものをも神としないこと、さもないとその声が聞こえないだろう。
But have no other gods before Him or you will not hear.

神はあなたが作る自我の神々を妬んだりしないが、あなたは妬んでいる。
God is not jealous of the gods you make, but you are.

そんなものを守ったり、それに仕えたりするつもりでいる、そんな（自我の）神々が自分を作ってくれたと信じているのだから。
You would save them and serve them, because you believe that they made you.

そんなものが自分の父親だとも思っているわけだが、それは自らそんなものを神と取り替えるために作ったという恐ろしい事実をそんな神々に投影しているからだ。
You think they are your father, because you are projecting onto them the fearful fact that you made them to replace God.

けれどもそんな神々が自分に話しかけていると思えるときにこそ、神に取って代われるものなど何もないし、あなたが神の代わりにしようとしたものは何であれ、どれも実存しないものだということを思いだしてほしい。
Yet when they seem to speak to you, remember that nothing can replace God, and whatever replacements you have attempted are nothing.




ではきわめて単純にいえば、あなたは無価値なものを怖がっていると信じるかもしれないが、本当は実存しないものに恐れを抱いているわけだ。
Very simply, then, you may believe you are afraid of nothingness, but you are really afraid of nothing.

そしてあなたがそれに気づけば癒される。
And in that awareness you are healed.

あなたは自分で耳を傾ける気がある自我の神の言い分を聞くだろう。
You will hear the god you listen to.

自分で病気の神を作り、そうすることで自分自身その神の言うことを聞くことができるようにした。
You made the god of sickness, and by making him you made yourself able to hear him.

しかしあなたはその神を創造したわけではない。そんな神は御父の意志ではないのだから。
Yet you did not create him, because he is not the Will of the Father.

したがってそれは不朽のものではないし、あなたが永遠なるものだけ受け入れたいという気持ちを示すと、すぐにあなたのために元通りなかったものとされる。
He is therefore not eternal and will be unmade for you the instant you signify your willingness to accept only the eternal.




神には唯一の神の子があるとするなら、唯一の神が在るだけである。
If God has but one Son, there is but one God.

あなたは神と共に実在を分かち合っている。実在は分離されてはいないのであるから。
You share reality with Him, because reality is not divided.

神はさておき他のものを神々だとして受け入れるのは、自分自身より他の偶像を優先させるということ。
To accept other gods before Him is to place other images before yourself.

あなたはどれほど自分の神々に耳を傾けているか気づいていないし、どんなにそんな神々のために絶えず警戒しているか気づいてはいない。
You do not realise how much you listen to your gods, and how vigilant you are on their behalf.

けれどもそんな神々が存在するのは、ただあなたが神としてまつり立てているからだ。
Yet they exist only because you honour them.

敬意を払うのならそれに値するものに払うことだ。そうすれば平安はあなたのものになるであろう。
Place honour where it is due, and peace will be yours.

それこそあなたが自分の本当の御父から受け継いだものである。
It is your inheritance from your real Father.

あなたは御父を作ることなどできないし、自分で作った父親があなたを作ったのでもない。
You cannot make your Father, and the father you made did not make you.

錯覚であるものは敬意を払うに値しない。そんなものを尊敬するのは、実存しないものを尊敬することになるのだから。
Honour is not due to illusions, for to honour them is to honour nothing.

さらにそんなものを恐れるには及ばない、実存しないものが恐ろしいはずなどないのだから。
Yet fear is not due them either, for nothing cannot be fearful.

あなたが愛を恐れることを選んだというのは、それが全く悪意の無いものだからだが、こうした恐れのために、あなたは自分自身の完璧な助力性と、あなた自身を助ける完璧な助けを自ら放棄しようとしてきた。
You have chosen to fear love because of its perfect harmlessness, and because of this fear you have been willing to give up your own perfect helpfulness and your own perfect Help.




神の祭壇においてのみ、あなたは平安を見いだすことができる。
Only at the altar of God will you find peace.

そしてこの祭壇は神があなたの中におかれたのだから、そこにある。
And this altar is in you because God put it there.

神の声は今でもあなたに戻るようにと呼びかけているし、あなたは神以外のどんなものをも神としなくなったときに、その声を聞き入れるだろう。
His Voice still calls you to return, and He will be heard when you place no other gods before Him.

あなたは自分のきょうだいたちのために病気の神を放棄することができるし、事実、あなた自身のためにそれを放棄するには、まずきょうだいたちのためにそうする必要がある。
You can give up the god of sickness for your brothers; in fact, you would have to do so if you give him up for yourself.

というのは、もしあなたがどこかにそんな病気の神をみるとすれば、それを受け入れたということであるから。
For if you see the god of sickness anywhere, you have accepted him.

そのうえ受け入れたなら、それに頭をさげて崇拝するようになる。その病気の神を神に取って代わらせたのだから。
And if you accept him you will bow down and worship him, because he was made as God's replacement.

病気の神のほうを取ったことで、どちらの神を本物だとするか、それは自分で選べるとあなたが信じていると分かる。
He is the belief that you can choose which god is real.

こんなことは実在となんの関係もないことがはっきりしているとはいえ、同様に、あなたが実在だとして知覚することすべてには関係があるというのも明らかである。
Although it is clear this has nothing to do with reality, it is equally clear that it has everything to do with reality as you perceive it.

10-2 忘れるという決心 The Decision to Forget

まずあることを知っていなければ、それを切り離して考えるということはできない。
Unless you first know something you cannot dissociate it.

つまり叡知が先にあってこそ、それを意識から解離させるに違いない。そうすると意識の解離は忘れるとの決心にほかならない。
Knowledge must precede dissociation, so that dissociation is nothing more than a decision to forget.

そのあと、意識的に忘れている何かが恐ろしく思えるようになるが、それはただ意識の解離は真理を攻撃することだからであるにすぎない。
What has been forgotten then appears to be fearful, but only because the dissociation is an attack on truth.

あなたが忘れているからこそ恐れるのである。
You are fearful because you have forgotten.

そして自分の叡知を、夢だと気づいていることと取り替えているわけだが、それはあなたが意識から解離しているものを恐れるのではなくて、自分が解離しているということに恐れを抱くからだ。
And you have replaced your knowledge by an awareness of dreams because you are afraid of your dissociation, not of what you have dissociated.

意識から解離しているものを受け入れるなら、恐ろしくなくなるであろう。
When what you have dissociated is accepted, it ceases to be fearful.



さらに、実在を意識から解離させるのをやめると、単に恐れが無くなるだけでなく、それ以上のことをもたらしてくれる。
Yet to give up the dissociation of reality brings more than merely lack of fear.

このように決心するうちにこそ、喜びと平安と創造の栄光とが見いだせる。
In this decision lie joy and peace and the glory of creation.

ただ思い出したいという気持ちを聖霊にささげてほしい。聖霊は神とあなた自身の叡知をあなたのために保持し、あなたがそれを受け入れるのを待っているのだから。
Offer the Holy Spirit only your willingness to remember, for He retains the knowledge of God and of yourself for you, waiting for your acceptance.

神はあなたの記憶にあるので、それを思いだすのを邪魔するようなものは何であれことごとく喜んですてることだ。
Give up gladly everything that would stand in the way of your remembering, for God is in your memory.

自ら進んで神を思いだそうとし、ふたたび自分自身の実在が分かる時には、神の声があなたは神の部分であるとあなたに言ってくれる。
His Voice will tell you that you are part of Him when you are willing to remember Him and know your own reality again.

何であれこの世の何かのために、あなたが神を思い出すことを遅らせたりしないように。こうして神を思い出すことこそ、自分自身を知ることであるから。
Let nothing in this world delay your remembering of Him, for in this remembering is the knowledge of yourself.



思い出すとはただあなたの心に、そこにすでにあるものを回復させるだけのことである。
To remember is merely to restore to your mind what is already there.

思い出すことを自分で作るのではなくて、すでにそこにあるのに拒絶されていたものを、ただもう一度受け入れるだけのこと。
You do not make what you remember; you merely accept again what is already there, but was rejected.

この世において真理を受け入れる能力は、神の国において創造することに相対すると見て取れるものだ。
The ability to accept truth in this world is the perceptual counterpart of creating in the Kingdom.

もしあなたが自分の役を果たすなら、神は自らの役を果たしてくださるし、あなたがそうするのと引き替えに、神は知覚を叡知に取り替えてくださる。
God will do His part if you will do yours, and His return in exchange for yours is the exchange of knowledge for perception.

あなたのためにと神が意図したのに、それができないということは何もない。
Nothing is beyond His Will for you.

ただ神を思い出すと自分で意志表示し、さあ、見てみるがいい。
But signify your will to remember Him, and behold!

ただあなたが頼みさえすれば、神はあらゆるものを与えてくださるであろう。
He will give you everything but for the asking.



あなたが攻撃するなら、自分自身を否定していることになる。
When you attack, you are denying yourself.

特に、あなたのあるがままのすがたは自分ではないと自ら教えている。
You are specifically teaching yourself that you are not what you are.

自分で実在を否認すると神の賜物を受け入れるのを阻むことになる。そうした賜物のかわりに何かほかのものを受け入れてしまったのだから。
Your denial of reality precludes the acceptance of God's gift, because you have accepted something else in its place.

もしあなたが、こんなことをするのは常に真理を攻撃することだし、その真理とは神であると理解しさえすれば、なぜそんなことをするといつも恐ろしいのか、それを悟るだろう。
If you understand that this is always an attack on truth, and truth is God, you will realise why it is always fearful.

さらに自分が神の大切な部分だと気づくなら、なぜあなたが必ず自分自身を最初に攻撃するのか理解するようになるであろう。
If you further recognise that you are part of God, you will understand why it is that you always attack yourself first.




攻撃はすべて自分を攻撃することである。
All attack is Self attack.

それ以外のなにごとでもあり得ない。
It cannot be anything else.

あるがままの自分ではいたくないというあなた自身の決心から生じるので、自分が何なのか、その身元にたいする攻撃といえる。
Arising from your own decision not to be what you are, it is an attack on your identification.

従って攻撃することで、その身元を失うことになる、自ら攻撃するときは、自分が何なのか忘れてしまっているに違いないのだから。
Attack is thus the way in which your identification is lost, because when you attack, you must have forgotten what you are.

そのうえもしあなたの実在が神の実在であるなら、あなたが攻撃するときには神を憶えていないことになる。
And if your reality is God's, when you attack you are not remembering Him.

これは神が在ることがないからではなくて、あなたが自分で積極的に思い出さないようにすることを『選んでいる』からである。
This is not because He is gone, but because you are actively choosing not to remember Him.




もしこんなことをすると自分の心の平安を完全にかき乱してしまうと悟るなら、そんな正気とはいえない決心をするはずがない。
If you realised the complete havoc this makes of your peace of mind you could not make such an insane decision.

そんな決心をするのは、ただあなたがまだ、そうすれば自分の望むものを何か得られると信じるからだ。
You make it only because you still believe it can get you something you want.

それなら、あなたは心の平安いがいの何かを望んではいるが、それが何なのかよく考えていないということになる。
It follows, then, that you want something other than peace of mind, but you have not considered what it must be.

けれども、もしあなたが見てみさえすれば、自分の決心がもたらす当然の結果は全く明らかだ。
Yet the logical outcome of your decision is perfectly clear, if you will only look at it.

自分の実在に逆らうと決めて、あなたは自分自身に、神とその王国に反して絶えず警戒を怠らないようにさせている。
By deciding against your reality, you have made yourself vigilant against God and His Kingdom.

そしてこんな警戒心が、あなたに神を思い出そうとすると恐れを抱かせるのである。
And it is this vigilance that makes you afraid to remember Him.

10-1 神のうちなるわが家にて At Home in God

あなたが自ら創造したもののことを分かっていないのは、ただあなたの心が分裂しているかぎり、そうしたものに逆らうと自分で決めてしまうからであるにすぎない。だが自分で創造したものを攻撃することなど不可能である。
You do not know your creations simply because you would decide against them as long as your mind is split, and to attack what you have created is impossible.

それは神にとっても同様に、不可能なことだと覚えておいてほしい。
But remember that it is as impossible for God.

創造の法則は、あなたが自ら創造したものを自分自身のように愛するということ、それは自分の大切な一部なのだから。
The law of creation is that you love your creations as yourself, because they are part of you.

Everything that was created is therefore perfectly safe, because the laws of God protect it by His Love.

こうしたことをあなたの心のある部分がわかっていないと、その部分は自らを叡智から遠ざけていることになる。なぜなら、その部分は、叡知への条件を満たしてはいないのであるから。
Any part of your mind that does not know this has banished itself from knowledge, because it has not met its conditions.

あなた以外のだれにこんなことができただろうか。
Who could have done this but you?

喜んでこれに気づき、こうしたことを認めさえすれば、自分が遠ざかっている状態は神がしたことではないとわかるし、したがってそんな状態は存在しないと悟ることができるのであるから。
Recognise this gladly, for in this recognition lies the realisation that your banishment is not of God, and therefore does not exist.


あなたは神のうちなるわが家にいるのに、流浪の身となった（自我に基づいた）自分を夢を見ているようなものだが、完全に実在に目覚めることもできる。
You are at home in God, dreaming of exile but perfectly capable of awakening to reality.

そうしようと決心する気があるだろうか。
Is it your decision to do so?

自分の経験から気づいているように、あなたが眠っている間は、（自我の）夢の中で見ることを、本当だと思ってしまう。
You recognise from your own experience that what you see in dreams you think is real while you are asleep.

けれども目が覚めたとたん、（自我の）夢の中で起こったように思えたことはすべて、全然起こっていないと実感する。
Yet the instant you waken you realise that everything that seemed to happen in the dream did not happen at all.

あなたが目覚めて気づく法則はみな、自分が眠っていた間にすべて犯されていたにもかかわらず、それがおかしなことだとは思っていない。
You do not think this strange, even though all the laws of what you awaken to were violated while you slept.

Is it not possible that you merely shifted from one dream to another, without really waking?




矛盾する夢のなかでの出来事を一致させようと思い悩むつもりなのか、それとも実在はそのどちらとも一致しないということを発見したなら、両方とも一緒に念頭から捨てるだろうか。
Would you bother to reconcile what happened in conflicting dreams, or would you dismiss both together if you discovered that reality is in accord with neither?

You do not remember being awake.

あなたが聖霊を耳にするなら、自分にも愛することが可能であるように思え、気が楽になるかもしれないが、かってそうだったとはまだ思い出していない。
When you hear the Holy Spirit you may feel better because loving then seems possible to you, but you do not remember yet that it once was so.

And it is in this remembering that you will know it can be so again.

What is possible has not yet been accomplished.

けれどもかってあったことは、もしそれが永遠であるなら、今もそうである。
Yet what has once been is so now, if it is eternal.

When you remember, you will know that what you remember is eternal, and therefore is now.

You will remember everything the instant you desire it wholly, for if to desire wholly is to create, you will have willed away the separation, returning your mind simultaneously to your Creator and your creations.

Knowing them you will have no wish to sleep, but only the desire to waken and be glad.

Dreams will be impossible because you will want only truth, and being at last your will, it will be yours.

10-0 序論 Introduction

あなたに恐れを抱かせたり愛に満る思いを抱かせたりするのは『自分自身だけ』だ。あなた以外には何もないのであるから。
Nothing beyond yourself can make you fearful or loving, because nothing is beyond you.

時間と永遠とは両方とも自分の心のなかにあり、あなたが時間は単に永遠に帰り着くための手段だと見て取らない限り、心に葛藤を生じさせることになる。
Time and eternity are both in your mind, and will conflict until you perceive time solely as a means to regain eternity.

自分の身に何が起こっていようと、その原因は自分以外の要因によると信じるうちは、時間をそのように見て取ることはできない。
You cannot do this as long as you believe that anything happening to you is caused by factors outside yourself.

時間はあなたの思いのままになるだけであり、それをどうするかという責任を自分から取り上げられるものは、何もこの世にないと分るようになる必要がある。
You must learn that time is solely at your disposal, and that nothing in the world can take this responsibility from you.

神の法則を犯せると自分で思い込むことはできても、それから逃れることはできない。
You can violate God's laws in your imagination, but you cannot escape from them.

They were established for your protection and are as inviolate as your safety.

God created nothing beside you and nothing beside you exists, for you are part of Him.

神以外に何が存在できるだろうか。
What except Him can exist?

神を凌ぐようなことは何も起こるはずはない。神を除いては実在的なものは何一つないのであるから。
Nothing beyond Him can happen, because nothing except Him is real.

あなたが創造したものはあなたと同様に神に加わるのだが、あらゆるものは常にあるのだから、何一つ変わったものは加えられない。
Your creations add to Him as you do, but nothing is added that is different because everything has always been.

What can upset you except the ephemeral, and how can the ephemeral be real if you are God's only creation and He created you eternal?

Your holy mind establishes everything that happens to you.

あなたが知覚するものごとに、それぞれどう応じるかは自分の責任だ。あなたの心がそうしたものをどう知覚するのか決めるわけであるから。
Every response you make to everything you perceive is up to you, because your mind determines your perception of it.




神は自身に確信を持っているので、あなたについて御心を変えるということはしない。
God does not change His Mind about you, for He is not uncertain of Himself.

そして神がわかっていることを知ることができる。神はそれを自らのためにのみ知っているのではないのだから。
And what He knows can be known, because He does not know it only for Himself.

神は自身のためにあなたを創造したのだが、あなたにも自分自身のために創造する力を授けているので、神と似たものとなれる。
He created you for Himself, but He gave you the power to create for yourself so you would be like Him.

だからこそあなたの心は神聖である。
That is why your mind is holy.

神の愛に勝るものがありうるだろうか。
Can anything exceed the Love of God?

それに何があなたの意志に勝ることができるだろうか。
Can anything, then, exceed your will?

その意志を越えてあなたの心を動かせるものは何一つない。あなたは神のうちにあるので、あなたがあらゆるものを含んでいるのだから。
Nothing can reach you from beyond it because, being in God, you encompass everything.

これを信じさえすれば、いかに何事もあなた次第か、それを悟るだろう。
Believe this, and you will realise how much is up to you.

何かがあなたの心の平安を脅かす時には、自分自身に聞いてみることだ。「神は私についての御心を変たのだろうか」、と。
When anything threatens your peace of mind, ask yourself, 'Has God changed His Mind about me?'

そのあと神の決断を受け入れるがいい。それはまさしく変わらざる決断であるからだ。そして自分自身についてあなたの心を変えることを拒否することだ。
Then accept His decision, for it is indeed changeless, and refuse to change your mind about yourself.

神はあなたに逆らって決めるようなことは絶対にしない。そのようなことをすれば、神ご自身に敵対する決断をすることになる。
God will never decide against you, or He would be deciding against Himself.
