4-0 序論 Introduction

聖書には、もしきょうだいにどこどこまで一緒に行って欲しいと頼まれたら、その倍を行くようにと書かれている 。
The Bible says that you should go with a brother twice as far as he asks.

そのきょうだいの旅路をさまたげたらどうかとは言っていない。
It certainly does not suggest that you set him back on his journey.

きょうだいに献身することが、あなたの進歩をさまたげるようなことも有り得ない。
Devotion to a brother cannot set you back either.

ただお互いが前進するのに役立つだけである。
It can lead only to mutual progress.

真の献身がうみだすのは霊感であり、その言葉が正しく理解されれば、それは疲労とは逆のもの。
The result of genuine devotion is inspiration, a word which properly understood is the opposite of fatigue.

疲労を感じるとは気力をくじかれているということ、それにたいしてやる気になるとは（本来の姿である）魂（＝スピリット）のうちにあるということ。
To be fatigued is to be dis-spirited, but to be inspired is to be in the spirit.

自我本位になるとは気力をくじかれていることになるが、正しい意味で自己中心的になるのは、やる気になるとは（本来のすがたである）魂（＝スピリット）のうちにあるということ。
To be egocentric is to be dis-spirited, but to be self-centered in the right sense is to be inspired or in spirit.

本当にやる気がある者は、啓発された者であって、闇に閉ざされることはない。
The truly inspired are enlightened and cannot abide in darkness.

あなたは（本来のすがたである）魂（＝スピリット）して話すか自我として話すか、自分で選ぶことができる。
You can speak from the spirit or from the ego, as you choose.

もし（本来のすがたである）魂（＝スピリット）として話すなら、「じっと静かにして、私が神だと知れ」と言われているのを選んだことになる。
If you speak from spirit you have chosen to "Be still and know that I am God."

こうした言葉は叡智を反映しているので、霊感によって言われたことである。
These words are inspired because they reflect knowledge.

もしあなたが自我として話すなら、叡知を肯定せずに否定することになり、（本来のすがたである）魂（＝スピリット）のうちにいないことになる。
If you speak from the ego you are disclaiming knowledge instead of affirming it, and are thus disspiriting yourself.

無益な旅路に足を向けないように、そんな旅路は実にむなしいものであるから。
Do not embark on useless journeys, because they are indeed in vain.

自我は行きたがるかもしれないが、（本来のすがたである）魂（＝スピリット）は土台から離れるつもりなど全くないので旅立つはずがない。
The ego may desire them, but spirit cannot embark on them because it is forever unwilling to depart from its foundation.




あの十字架にむかう旅路こそ、最後の「無益な旅路」となるべきである。
The journey to the cross should be the last "useless journey."

そのことをくよくよ考える必要はない、すでに終わったこととして忘れてしまうがよい。
Do not dwell upon it, but dismiss it as accomplished.

もしその旅路をあなた自身の最後の無益な旅路として受け入れるなら、あなたも私（キリスト）の復活に加わることができる。
If you can accept it as your own last useless journey, you are also free to join my resurrection.

それまでは、実にあなたは人生を無駄に生きていることになる。
Until you do so your life is indeed wasted.

そうした人生は、たんに分離や力の喪失、自我が償いのためにするむだな試み、あげくのはては、からだを十字架にかけたり死を再現したりするにすぎないのである。
It merely re-enacts the separation, the loss of power, the futile attempts of the ego at reparation, and finally the crucifixion of the body, or death.

この繰返しは自発的に放棄しないかぎりいつまでも続くことだろう。
Such repetitions are endless until they are voluntarily given up.

「古くてぼろぼろになった十字架にすがりつこうとする」ような、哀れな間違いをしないように。
Do not make the pathetic error of "clinging to the old rugged cross."

キリストのはりつけが伝えようとすることはただ一つ、あなたは十字架のような受難でさえ乗り越えられるということである。
The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross.

これがわかるようになるまでは何度でも好きなだけ十字架にかかるのもあなた次第。
Until then you are free to crucify yourself as often as you choose.

私があなたに説きたかったのはこのような福音ではない。
This is not the gospel I intended to offer you.

われわれには他にたどるべき旅路があるし、もしこれから述べる教えを注意深く読めば、それがこの旅に出る準備の手助けとなるだろう。
We have another journey to undertake, and if you will read these lessons carefully they will help prepare you to undertake it.
