2-3 神の祭壇 The Altar of God

贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）は内なる光を解放することによってのみ、あなたに受け入れられる。
The Atonement can only be accepted within you by releasing the inner light.

分離以来、ほとんどの防衛法はみな贖罪に逆らって防衛するために使われてきており、かくして分離状態を持続している。
Since the separation, defenses have been used almost entirely to defend against the Atonement, and thus maintain the separation.

からだというものを保護するには、そうする必要があると一般にみなされている。
This is generally seen as a need to protect the body.

（自我の）心が携わる多くの肉体的な空想は、からだを「罪の償い」を果たす手段として使えるという（自我の見方に基づいた）歪んだ信念から生ずる。
The many body fantasies in which minds engage arise from the distorted belief that the body can be used as a means for attaining "atonement. "

からだを聖霊の宮として知覚するのは、こうした歪みを正すための第一段階にすぎない。（なぜなら）その歪みの一部分だけを改めるわけであるから。
Perceiving the body as a temple is only the first step in correcting this distortion, because it alters only part of it.

それはたしかに物質的な点での贖罪は不可能だとは認めている。
It does recognize that Atonement in physical terms is impossible.

しかしながら、次の段階で悟るべきことは、いやしくも聖霊の宮とは建物（＝からだ）をさしているのではないということ。
The next step, however, is to realize that a temple is not a structure at all.

それの本当の神聖さは内なる祭壇にあり、そのまわりに建物を建てることになる。
Its true holiness lies at the inner altar around which the structure is built.

みごとな建物（＝からだ）を強調するとすれば、それは贖罪を恐れていて、祭壇そのものに達するのは気が進まないということを表している。
The emphasis on beautiful structures is a sign of the fear of Atonement, and an unwillingness to reach the altar itself.

聖霊の宮の本当の美しさというものは、肉体の目で見ることなどできはしない。
The real beauty of the temple cannot be seen with the physical eye.

その半面、スピリット的な見方は完全な洞察力なので、（外的なからだという）建物を全く見ることができない。
Spiritual sight, on the other hand, cannot see the structure at all because it is perfect vision.

しかしながら、祭壇そのものは申し分なくはっきりと「観る」ことができるのである。
It can, however, see the altar with perfect clarity.




贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）には申し分ない効力があるからこそ、内なる祭壇の中心となるにふさわしく、そこで分離をもと通りにし、心を完全なすがたに回復させるのである。
For perfect effectiveness the Atonement belongs at the center of the inner altar, where it undoes the separation and restores the wholeness of the mind.

分離以前は、恐れというものは存在しなかったので、心が（自我の幻想が作り出す）恐れによって傷つけられることなどなかった。
Before the separation the mind was invulnerable to fear, because fear did not exist.

分離と恐れとは両方とも誤って創造されたことであり、聖霊の宮を修復し、祭壇を開いて贖罪を迎え入れるためには、どちらも、もとどおりにしなければならない。
Both the separation and the fear are miscreations that must be undone for the restoration of the temple, and for the opening of the altar to receive the Atonement.

こうして、あなたのうちに分離についてのすべての思いに対して効果的な防衛法をおき、あなたを全く傷つけられないようにすることで分離状態を癒すのである。
This heals the separation by placing within you the one effective defense against all separation thoughts and making you perfectly invulnerable.




（いずれの日にか）だれもがみんな贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）を受け入れるのは、ただ時間の問題。
The acceptance of the Atonement by everyone is only a matter of time.

こういうと、その最終結論は必然的だといっているようで、自由意志と矛盾するように思えるかもしれないが、そうではない。
This may appear to contradict free will because of the inevitability of the final decision, but this is not so.

あなたは一時逃れもできるし、途方もなくぐずつくこともできるが、創造主から完全に離れ去ることなどできない。その創造主はあなたが誤って創造する能力に限界を定めているのだから。
You can temporize and you are capable of enormous procrastination, but you cannot depart entirely from your creator, who set the limits on your ability to miscreate.

（自我的な思考や感情を真実だと思い込んだ）捕らわれの身である者は、極端な場合、まったく耐えられないような事態を引き起こすようになる。
An imprisoned will engenders a situation which, in the extreme, becomes altogether intolerable.

痛みや苦しみにたいする忍耐力はかなりあるかもしれないが、それに限界がないわけではない。
Tolerance for pain may be high, but it is not without limit.

結局はだれもが、もっといい道が必ずあるはずだと、どんなにかすかであるにせよ、気づき始める。
Eventually everyone begins to recognize, however dimly, that there must be a better way.

こう気づいたことをさらにしっかりと確信したとき、それが重大な転機となる。
As this recognition becomes more firmly established, it becomes a turning point.

究極的にはこれがスピリットとしての洞察力を再び目覚めさせ、それと同時にからだの目で見ることを当てにしたり期待したりしなくなる。
This ultimately reawakens spiritual vision, simultaneously weakening the investment in physical sight.

二つの段階で交互に知覚し、そのどちらかに期待しようとすると、葛藤を覚えるのはあたりまえだし、それがかなり深刻になることがある。
The alternating investment in the two levels of perception is usually experienced as conflict, which can become very acute.

しかし、その結果そのものは神にも劣らず確かなことである。
But the outcome is as certain as God.




スピリットとしての洞察力は、まったく間違いを見ることができず、ただ贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）を待ち受けるだけである。
Spiritual vision literally cannot see error, and merely looks for Atonement.

肉体的な目で求めようとする解決法はみな次第に消え失せる。
All solutions the physical eye seeks dissolve.

スピリットとしての洞察力は内面に目を向けて、すぐに祭壇が（自我の投影による思い込みによって）汚されているのに気づき、それをきれいにし、保護する必要があるとみてとる。
Spiritual vision looks within and recognizes immediately that the altar has been defiled and needs to be repaired and protected.

それは正しい防衛のしかたを十分にわきまえているので、他のをみな通り越し、（自我を自分自身だと思い込み、自我の見方によって真実を勘違いした）間違いを後にして真理を求める。
Perfectly aware of the right defense it passes over all others, looking past error to truth.

それの洞察力は強いので、心をそれに奉仕する気にさせる。
Because of the strength of its vision, it brings the mind into its service.

こうすることが心の力を回復させ、遅れを取ることはただ必要のない苦痛を加えるだけだと悟るので、それに耐えられなくなる。
This re-establishes the power of the mind and makes it increasingly unable to tolerate delay, realizing that it only adds unnecessary pain.

その結果、心はかつて、まったく些細なことでただ少し不安にさせるだけと見なしていたことに対しても、ますます敏感になってくる。
As a result, the mind becomes increasingly sensitive to what it would once have regarded as very minor intrusions of discomfort.




神の子供たちは、完全に信頼すればこそ得られるという、申し分のない慰めを受けるにあたいする。
The children of God are entitled to the perfect comfort that comes from perfect trust.

これを達成するまでは、いわば自分自身ならびに持前の真の創造力を、（自我による）適当とはいえない手段で少しでも自分たちを楽にしようとする無益な企てに、浪費したりすることになる。
Until they achieve this, they waste themselves and their true creative powers on useless attempts to make themselves more comfortable by inappropriate means.

しかし、そのための本当の手段はすでに与えられており、それは神の子供たちが努力をするかしないかということには全く左右されないものである。
But the real means are already provided, and do not involve any effort at all on their part.

贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）こそ神の祭壇で捧げられるのにふさわしい唯一の贈り物だとするのは、その祭壇そのものに価値があるからだ。
The Atonement is the only gift that is worthy of being offered at the altar of God, because of the value of the altar itself.

それは完全に創造されており、完全であるものを受け取るのに全くふさわしいといえる。
It was created perfect and is entirely worthy of receiving perfection.

神と神が創造したものは、全面的にお互いに依存しあう。
God and his creations are completely dependent on Each Other.

神が完全に創造したものだからこそ、頼りにするのである。
He depends on them because he created them perfect.

神が自らの平安を与えたのも、そうすれば動揺したり欺かれたりしないですむだろうと思ってのことであった。
He gave them his peace so they could not be shaken and could not be deceived.

あなたが怖がるたびに、（自我に）欺かれているのは確かであってあなたの心は聖霊に仕えることができなくなる。
Whenever you are afraid you are deceived, and your mind cannot serve the Holy Spirit.

これが日用の糧を拒むのであって、自分を飢えさせることになってしまう。
This starves you by denying you your daily bread.

神は御子たちがいなければ孤独な思いをし、また御子たちは神がいなければ孤独である。
God is lonely without his sons, and they are lonely without Him.

御子たちは、「この世は分離を癒すための手段だ」と見なすことを学ばなければならない。
They must learn to look upon the world as a means of healing the separation.

贖罪（≒自我の「分離」という間違った思い込みを聖霊によって取り消すこと、それを進める聖霊の計画）こそ、御子たちが究極的にはそれに成功するという保証である。
The Atonement is the guarantee that they will ultimately succeed.
