3-7 創造されたもの対自己の想像 Creating versus the Self-Image

思考体系にはいずれもみな、かならずその起点となるものがある。
Every system of thought must have a starting point.

それは「作ること」あるいは「創造すること」、そのいずれかから始まり、その違いについてはすでに話し合ったことがある。
It begins with either a making or a creating, a difference we have already discussed.

その二つの類似点は土台としての力にある。
Their resemblance lies in their power as foundations.

相違点はそれぞれの土台に基づいてなりたっているものに見られる。
Their difference lies in what rests upon them.

両方とも、人がそれによって生きる信念の体系に必要な礎石ともいえる。
Both are cornerstones for systems of belief by which one lives.

うそ偽りに基礎をおいた（自我に基づく）思考体系は弱いとなど信じるのは間違いだ。
It is a mistake to believe that a thought system based on lies is weak.

神の子供が作ったもので力の無いものなど何一つない。
Nothing made by a child of God is without power.

これを悟ることがきわめて重要だ。さもないと自分で作ってしまった（自我に基づく見方の）牢獄から抜け出せなくなってしまうだろう。
It is essential to realize this, because otherwise you will be unable to escape from the prison you have made.




あなたは自分の心がもつ力を見くびることによって、権威問題を解決することはできない。
You cannot resolve the authority problem by depreciating the power of your mind.

そんなことをするのは自分を欺くことであり、これは、あなたが実際には心の強さをよく理解しているので自分を傷つけてしまう。
To do so is to deceive yourself, and this will hurt you because you really understand the strength of the mind.

そのうえ、あなたは神を弱めることなどできもしないのと同様に、それを弱めることはできないということも悟っている。
You also realize that you cannot weaken it, any more than you can weaken God.

「悪魔」とは、きわめて強力でありきわめて活動的だと思えるので、恐怖を感じさせる概念である。
The "devil" is a frightening concept because he seems to be extremely powerful and extremely active.

悪魔は神と戦闘状態にあり、神が創造したものを占領しようと戦っている軍勢と見なされている。
He is perceived as a force in combat with God, battling Him for possession of His creations.

悪魔はうそをついたり偽ったりして欺くのであり、そうして築きあげた王国ではあらゆるものが神にまっこうから反抗している。
The devil deceives by lies, and builds kingdoms in which everything is in direct opposition to God.

そんな悪魔にたいして、人々は不快に感じて反発するよりも、むしろ魅力を感じて惹きつけられてしまい、そのうえ喜んで本当の値打ちなどない贈り物のかわりに、自分の魂を悪魔に「売り渡す」 。
Yet he attracts men rather than repels them, and they are willing to "sell" him their souls in return for gifts of no real worth.

こうしたことは全く道理にかなわないとしか言いようがない。
This makes absolutely no sense.




人類の堕落または分離については話し合ったことがあるけれども、その意味をはっきりと理解しなければならない。
We have discussed the fall or separation before, but its meaning must be clearly understood.

分離していることは（自我に基づく）思考の体系で、それは時間のうちでは十分真実味があるが、永遠の世においてはそうではない。
The separation is a system of thought real enough in time, though not in eternity.

信じていることはみなそれを信じる者にとっては本当である。
All beliefs are real to the believer.

象徴的なエデンの園で、ある一つの木だけからはその木の実を取ってたべることを禁じられていた。
The fruit of only one tree was "forbidden" in the symbolic garden.

しかし神がその木の実を食べることを禁じたはずはないし、もしそうしたとすれば、実際に食べることができたはずがない。
But God could not have forbidden it, or it could not have been eaten.

もし神が自分の子供たちを知っておられるなら、まずこれについてはたしかにその通りだと私が請け合っておくが、神は子供たちを、自分で破滅させることになりかねない立場におくようなことをしただろうか。
If God knows His children, and I assure you that He does, would He have put them in a position where their own destruction was possible?

「禁断の木」は「知識の木」と名づけられた。
The "forbidden tree" was named the "tree of knowledge."

けれども神は叡智を創造したうえで、それを自分の創造したものに惜みなく与えられたのである。
Yet God created knowledge and gave it freely to His creations.

これが象徴する意味は色々と解釈されているが、神あるいは神に創造されたものそのどちらかが、自らの目的を破滅させられると見る解釈の仕方はどれも間違っていることは確かだ。
The symbolism here has been given many interpretations, but you may be sure that any interpretation that sees either God or His creations as capable of destroying Their Own purpose is in error.




知識の木になっている実を食べるというのは象徴的な表現であり、自己創造するための能力を不当に使っていることを意味する。
Eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge is a symbolic expression for usurping the ability for self-creating.

この点においてのみ神と創造されたものとは共同創造主ではないといえる。
This is the only sense in which God and His creations are not co-creators.

共同創造主だと信じていることは「自己概念」または自己が自分で想像したものを作りあげる傾向があることが暗示している。
The belief that they are is implicit in the "self-concept," or the tendency of the self to make an image of itself.

想像したものは知覚されるのであり、わかることではない。
Images are perceived, not known.

叡智は欺くことはできないが、知覚は欺ける。
Knowledge cannot deceive, but perception can.

自分を自己創造するものだと知覚できるが、そのように知覚したものを信じることしかできない。
You can perceive yourself as self-creating, but you cannot do more than believe it.

それを真実とすることなどできないのである。
You cannot make it true.

それから私が前にも述べたように、あなたが最終的に正しく知覚したときには、できないということをかえって喜べるだろう。
And, as I said before, when you finally perceive correctly you can only be glad that you cannot.

しかし、それまではそれができるという信念があなたの思考体系の土台石であり、そうした信念を光へともたらしかねない想念を、自分の防衛策のすべてを使って攻撃するのである。
Until then, however, the belief that you can is the foundation stone in your thought system, and all your defenses are used to attack ideas that might bring it to light.

あなたはいまだに自分のことを自ら想像して作り上げたと信じている。
You still believe you are an image of your own making.

この点についてあなたの心は聖霊と分裂しており、文字どおり想像も及ばないようなことをあなたが一つ信じているうちは、解決法はない。
Your mind is split with the Holy Spirit on this point, and there is no resolution while you believe the one thing that is literally inconceivable.

それこそあなたには創造することができず、また自分が作り出すものにたいして恐怖を抱いているわけである。
That is why you cannot create and are filled with fear about what you make.




心は、（神と）分離しているという信念を真に迫ったきわめて恐ろしいものにできるのであり、このような信念こそ「悪魔」というものである。
The mind can make the belief in separation very real and very fearful, and this belief is the "devil."

悪魔は強力で活動的で破壊的であり、そのうえ神に反抗していることは明らかだ、文字どおり神の御父としての身分を否定しているのであるから。
It is powerful, active, destructive and clearly in opposition to God, because it literally denies His Fatherhood.

自分の人生をふりかえってみて、悪魔がでっち上げた人生とはどんなものか見てみるがいい。
Look at your life and see what the devil has made.

しかしこうして作られたものは、土台そのものが偽りなので、真理の光のなかで消え失せてしまうのは確かだと気づいてほしい。
But realize that this making will surely dissolve in the light of truth, because its foundation is a lie.

神によってあなたが創造されたことは揺らぐことのない唯一の土台である。そこには光があるのだから。
Your creation by God is the only Foundation that cannot be shaken, because the light is in it.

あなたの出発点は真理であり、あなたは自分の起源たる存在のもとに戻らなければならない。
Your starting point is truth, and you must return to your Beginning.

あれ以来、多くのことが目にうつったが、実際には何も起こってはいないのである。
Much has been seen since then, but nothing has really happened.

たとえあなたの心には葛藤があるとしても、あなたの本来の自己は今なお平安のうちにとどまっている。
Your Self is still in peace, even though your mind is in conflict.

自分の歩んできた道のりをまだ遠くまで十分に後戻りしたとはいえない、だから非常に恐れを抱くようになってしまう。
You have not yet gone back far enough, and that is why you become so fearful.

起源たる存在に近づくにつれて、あなたは自分の（自我に基づく）思考体系が破壊されそうな恐れを感じ、それはまるで死にたいする恐れであるがごとくに感じる。
As you approach the Beginning, you feel the fear of the destruction of your thought system upon you as if it were the fear of death.

死というものは（スピリットとしてのあなたには本質的には）存在しない。ただ（肉体を自分だと思い込み、その生での肉体の終わりは自分の死であると）死を信じる者がいることは確かだ。
There is no death, but there is a belief in death.




実を結ばない枝は切りとられて枯れ果てるだろう。
The branch that bears no fruit will be cut off and will wither away.

喜ぶがよい！
Be glad!

光は生命の真の御土台から輝き、あなた自身の思考体系は間違っていたことを認めるようになる。
The light will shine from the true Foundation of life, and your own thought system will stand corrected.

さもないと持ちこたえられないだろう。
It cannot stand otherwise.

救いを恐れる者は死を選んでいることになる。
You who fear salvation are choosing death.

生と死、光と闇、叡智と知覚はどれも両立しないものである。
Life and death, light and darkness, knowledge and perception, are irreconcilable.

両立しえると信じるとすれば、神と御子とは和解できないと信じることになってしまう。
To believe that they can be reconciled is to believe that God and His Son can not.

ただ一体である叡知のうちには（自我に基づく）心の葛藤はない。
Only the oneness of knowledge is free of conflict.

あなたの王国はこの世のものではないのだ。それはこの世を越えたものから与えられたのであるから。
Your Kingdom is not of this world because it was given you from beyond this world.

ただこの世において権威問題についての想念に意義があるにすぎない。
Only in this world is the idea of an authority problem meaningful.

この世を死によって去るのではなく、真理によって去るのであり、すべての者が真理を知ることができるし、神の国はその人たちのために創造されており、みんなを待ち受けているのである。
The world is not left by death but by truth, and truth can be known by all those for whom the Kingdom was created, and for whom it waits.
