9-3 間違いの訂正 The Correction of Error

自我はほかの自我の間違いなどに敏感だが、聖霊はそんなことにあなたの警戒心を維持させようとはしていない。
The alertness of the ego to the errors of other egos is not the kind of vigilance the Holy Spirit would have you maintain.

自我はいわば自らが守ろうとする「分別」のしかたに関しては批判的になる。
Egos are critical in terms of the kind of 'sense' they stand for.

こんな分別のしかたを理解できるというのも、自我にはそれが意味をなすからだ。
They understand this kind of sense, because it is sensible to them.

聖霊にしてみれば、そんなことは全然意味をなしているとはいえない。
To the Holy Spirit it makes no sense at all.




自我にとっては、間違いを指摘しそれを「訂正する」のは親切で正しくよいことだとする。
To the ego it is kind and right and good to point out errors and 'correct' them.

こうするのは自我には本当によく意味をなすが、その自我は何が間違いで何が訂正なのか気づいてはいない。
This makes perfect sense to the ego, which is unaware of what errors are and what correction is.

間違いとは自我のものであり、その間違いの訂正は自我を放棄することにある。
Errors are of the ego, and correction of errors lies in the relinquishment of the ego.

あなたがきょうだいを正すときには、そのきょうだいにむかって間違っていると言っていることになる。
When you correct a brother, you are telling him that he is wrong.

そのときその人の話は全く支離滅裂かもしれない。そしてもしも自分の自我から話しているとすれば、意味をなさないのは確かだろう。
He may be making no sense at the time, and it is certain that, if he is speaking from the ego, he will not be making sense.

しかしあなたの務めはやはり、そのきょうだいは正しいと知らせてやること。
But your task is still to tell him he is right.

こうしたことは口で言わないほうがいいだろう。もし当人が愚かなことを話しているのなら。
You do not tell him this verbally, if he is speaking foolishly.

そのきょうだいにはもう一つ別の段階での訂正を要する。当人の間違いはそうした別の段階でのものであるから。
He needs correction at another level, because his error is at another level.

それでも、そのきょうだい自身は神の子なのだからやはり正しいのである。
He is still right, because he is a Son of God.

そのきょうだいの自我は、たとえ何を言おうと何をしようといつも正しいとはいえない。
His ego is always wrong, no matter what it says or does.



もしあなたがきょうだいの自我の間違いを指摘するのなら、自分の（自我の投影）を通して見ているに違いない。聖霊はそのきょうだいの間違いを知覚しないのだから。
If you point out the errors of your brother's ego you must be seeing through yours, because the Holy Spirit does not perceive his errors.

これは確かに本当に違いない。自我と聖霊のあいだには意思の疎通はないわけであるから。
This must be true, since there is no communication between the ego and the Holy Spirit.

自我というものは意味をなさないし、聖霊はそんな自我から生じるものは何にせよ理解しようともしない。
The ego makes no sense, and the Holy Spirit does not attempt to understand anything that arises from it.

聖霊は理解しないのだから審きもしないが、自我の作るものは何一つなんの意味もないということは分かっている。
Since He does not understand it, He does not judge it, knowing that nothing the ego makes means anything.



あなたが間違いに少しでも反応するときには、聖霊に耳を傾けてはいないといえる。
When you react at all to errors, you are not listening to the Holy Spirit.

聖霊は単にそんな間違いを無視しているのだが、もしあなたがそれを気にするなら聖霊を聞き入れてはいないことになる。
He has merely disregarded them, and if you attend to them you are not hearing Him.

もし聖霊に聞かないなら、自分の自我に耳をかしているのであって、間違っていると見なしているそのきょうだいと同じように、あなたもほとんど意味をなしていない。
If you do not hear Him, you are listening to your ego and making as little sense as the brother whose errors you perceive.

こんなことで（自我の）訂正になるはずがない。
This cannot be correction.

さらにそれは単にそのきょうだいのための訂正をせずにおくことになるだけでは済まない。
Yet it is more than merely a lack of correction for him.

あなた自身のなかで（自我の投影を）訂正するのを諦めることになる。
It is the giving up of correction in yourself.



あるきょうだいが正気とは思えないように振る舞うときには、あなたはただその人のなかにある正気を見て取ることでそのきょうだいを癒せるだけだ。
When a brother behaves insanely, you can heal him only by perceiving the sanity in him.

もしもそのきょうだいの間違いを知覚し受け入れたりすれば、自分のを受け入れているといえる。
If you perceive his errors and accept them, you are accepting yours.

もし自分の間違いを聖霊に渡したいと思うのなら、そのきょうだいのと一緒に渡さなければならない。
If you want to give yours over to the Holy Spirit, you must do this with his.

こうしたやり方だけで間違いをすべて処理しないかぎり、あなたには間違いがみなどのようにして取り消されるのか理解できはしない。
Unless this becomes the one way in which you handle all errors, you cannot understand how all errors are undone.

これは自分が教えることを自ら学ぶと言うのとどう違うだろうか。
How is this different from telling you that what you teach you learn?

あなたのきょうだいはあなたと同じように正しいのであり、もしそのきょうだいは正しくないと思うなら、あなたは自分自身を非難していることになる。
Your brother is as right as you are, and if you think he is wrong you are condemning yourself.



あなたは自分自身を正すことさえできない。
You cannot correct yourself.

では、ほかの者を正すことなどあなたに可能だろうか。
Is it possible, then, for you to correct another?

ただしその人を正しく見ることはできる、自分自身を正しく見ることはできるのだから。
Yet you can see him truly, because it is possible for you to see yourself truly.

自分のきょうだいを変えるのはあなたの責任ではないが、ただその人をあるがままに受け入れるだけでいい。
It is not up to you to change your brother, but merely to accept him as he is.

そのきょうだいの間違いはその人のうちなる真理からくるのではないし、この真理だけがあなたのものとなる。
His errors do not come from the truth that is in him, and only this truth is yours.

きょうだいの間違いはこうしたことを変えられないし、あなたのうちなる真理に何の影響も与えない。
His errors cannot change this, and can have no effect at all on the truth in you.

だれであれその人のなかに間違いを知覚し、それがまるで本当であるように反応すれば、あなたにとってそれを本当にすることになる。
To perceive errors in anyone, and to react to them as if they were real, is to make them real to you.

これの代償を支払わないわけにはいかない。とはいえそれの報いを受けるのではなくて、間違った案内役に従っているので、自分の道を失うことになるからだ。
You will not escape paying the price for this, not because you are being punished for it, but because you are following the wrong guide and will therefore lose your way.



あなたのきょうだいの間違いはその人のものではない。それはあなたのが自分のものでないのと同じこと。
Your brother's errors are not of him, any more than yours are of you.

そのきょうだいの間違いを本物だとして受け入れると、自分自身を攻撃したことになる。
Accept his errors as real, and you have attacked yourself.

自分の道を見つけてそれを保ち、ただ自分のそばにある真実を見てほしい。それと一緒に歩んでいるのだから。
If you would find your way and keep it, see only truth beside you for you walk together.

あなたのうちなる聖霊はあなたときょうだいのなかにあるすべてのものを赦してくれる。
The Holy Spirit in you forgives all things in you and in your brother.

そのきょうだいの間違いはあなたのと一緒に赦してもらえる。
His errors are forgiven with yours.

贖罪は別々のものではないが、それは愛がそうでないのと同じだ。
Atonement is no more separate than love.

贖罪は愛から生じるのだから別々であるはずがない。
Atonement cannot be separate because it comes from love.

どんな風にであれ、あるきょうだいを正そうと試みれば、それはあなたが自分で訂正することは可能だと信じていることを意味し、こんなことはただ自我の傲慢さでしかない。
Any attempt you make to correct a brother means that you believe correction by you is possible, and this can only be the arrogance of the ego.

訂正は神のすることであり、神は傲慢さを知らない。
Correction is of God, Who does not know of arrogance.



聖霊は、神がすべてを創造したので、すべてのものを赦そうとする。
The Holy Spirit forgives everything because God created everything.

その聖霊の役目を引き受けたりしないように。さもないとあなたは自分のを忘れてしまう。
Do not undertake His function, or you will forget yours.

時間のうちでは、ただ癒すという役目だけ受け入れてほしい。時間はそのためにあるのだから。
Accept only the function of healing in time, because that is what time is for.

永遠においては、神はあなたに創造する役目を授けられた。
God gave you the function to create in eternity.

そうするのに学ぶ必要はないが、そうしたいと望むようになる必要があるのは確かだろう。
You do not need to learn that, but you do need to learn to want it.

そのためにこそすべての学習がはじまったといえる。
For that all learning was made.

このために聖霊は、あなたが自分に必要ないのに、作ってしまった能力を利用する。
This is the Holy Spirit's use of an ability that you do not need, but that you made.

そんなものは聖霊に渡してしまうがいい。
Give it to Him!

あなたはそれをどのように使うのか分かっていない。
You do not understand how to use it.

聖霊は、あなたにあらゆるものを非難することなく見つめるにはどうすればいいのかを学んで、いかに自分自身を非難しないで見ればいいか教えてくれる。
He will teach you how to see yourself without condemnation, by learning how to look on everything without it.

そのあと、非難するということは自分にとって本当ではなくなり、あなたの間違いはすべてゆるされる。
Condemnation will then not be real to you, and all your errors will be forgiven.
