8-4 The Gift of Freedom 自由という賜物

あなたの心が全き平安と喜びに満ちていることが神の意志であるとすれば、もしあなたがこれだけを経験していないとすれば、その意志を承認しないと拒否しているに違いない。
If God's Will for you is complete peace and joy, unless you experience only this you must be refusing to acknowledge His will.

神の意志が揺らぐことなどない。それは永久に変化しないものであるから。
His will does not vacillate, being changeless forever.

あなたの心に平安を欠いているなら、それはただ自分が神のうちにあると信じていないからだ。
When you are not at peace it can only be because you do not believe you are in Him.

しかし神はすべてにおいてすべてである。
Yet He is All in all.

神の平安は完全であり、あなたもそのなかに含まれているに相違ない。
His peace is complete, and you must be included in it.

神の法則はあらゆるものを支配するので、あなたをも支配している。
His laws govern you because they govern everything.

あなたはその法則から自分自身を免除することはできない。ただしそれに従わずにいることはできる。
You cannot exempt yourself from His laws, although you can disobey them.

しかしもしそうすると、本当にそんなことをしたなら、さびしい思いやどうしようもないような気持ちになるだろう。自分自身にあらゆるものを拒んでいるわけだから。
Yet if you do, and only if you do, you will feel lonely and helpless, because you are denying yourself everything.

私は、あらゆるものを自らに否定してしまうこの世に、光として来た。
I am come as a light into a world that does deny itself everything.

この世は、ただあらゆるものを意識から解離させることで、そんなことをするにすぎない。
It does this simply by dissociating itself from everything.

したがってこの世は孤立しているとの錯覚であり、同じようにこの世が錯覚している孤独な思いにたいする恐れで、持続されている。
It is therefore an illusion of isolation, maintained by fear of the same loneliness that is its illusion.

私は世の終りまでも常にあなたたちと共にいる、と述べた。
I said that I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

だからこそ私がこの世の光である。
That is why I am the light of the world.

もしも私が、この世で寂しい思いをしているあなたと共にいるなら、そんな寂しさはなくなる。
If I am with you in the loneliness of the world, the loneliness is gone.

もしあなたが一人ぽっちでなければ、孤独だという錯覚に固執できないはずだ。
You cannot maintain the illusion of loneliness if you are not alone.

そこで、私の目的はやはりまだこの世に勝つこと。
My purpose, then, is still to overcome the world.

攻撃はしないが、この世は何なのかということからすれば、それは私の光できっと追い払える。
I do not attack it, but my light must dispel it because of what it is.

光は暗闇を攻撃することはないが、その輝きでそれを消滅させることは確か。
Light does not attack darkness, but it does shine it away.

もしも私の光がどこにでもあなたと共に行くなら、あなたが私と一緒にその（自我の）闇を消滅させる。
If my light goes with you everywhere, you shine it away with me.

光そのものが我々のものになり、あなたが行くところにはどこにも（自我の）暗闇が留まれないように、あなたが（自我の）闇に閉ざされることなど有り得ない。
The light becomes ours, and you cannot abide in darkness any more than darkness can abide
wherever you go.

私を憶えておくとは自分自身を憶えておくこと。そしてあなたのところに私を遣わされた存在を憶えておくということである。
The remembrance of me is the remembrance of yourself, and of him Who sent me to you.




神の意志が御子としての身分のある部分によって完全に果たされるまでは、あなたは（自我という）暗闇のなかにいた。
You were in darkness until God's Will was done completely by any part of the Sonship.

これが果たされたときは、全員によって申し分なく為し遂げられたのである。
When this was done, it was perfectly accomplished by all.

それよりほかにはどのようにして申し分なく為し遂げられただろう。
How else could it be perfectly accomplished?

私の使命は、わたし自身御父の意志を自覚して、ただ御子としての身分にある者たちの意志と御父の意志とを一つに結びつけるだけのことだった。
My mission was simply to unite the will of the Sonship with the Will of the Father by being aware of
the Father's Will myself.

こうした自覚をあなたに与えるために私は来たのだが、それをあなたが受け入れられないという問題がすなわちこの世の問題だ。
This is the awareness I came to give you, and your problem in accepting it is the problem of this world.

それを払いのけることが救いとなるのであり、この意味において、私は確かに世の救いといえる。
Dispwlling it is salvation, and in this sense I am the salvation of the world.

したがってこの世が私を軽蔑し拒絶するというのも、まさにこの世は、愛は不可能であるという信念そのものだからだ。
The world must therefore despise and reject me, because the world is the belief that love is impossible.

もしあなたが、私はあなたと共にいる、という事実を受け入れるなら、あなたはこの世を否定し神を受け入れていることになる。
If you will accept the fact that I am with you, you are denying the world and accepting God.

私の意志は神のそれであり、私に耳を傾けるというあなたの決心は、すなわち神の声を聞き入れその意志のうちに留まるとの決心である。
My will is His, and your decision to hear me is the decision to hear His voice and abide in His will.

神が私をあなたに遣わされたがごとく、私もあなたを他の者たちのところに行かせるつもりでいる。
As God sent me to you so will I send you to others.

そして私もあなたと一緒に行くつもりだ。そうすれば二人で平安と和合について教えることができる。
And I will go to them with you, so we can teach them peace and union.




あなたは自分も平安を必要としているが、それと同じくらいこの世にも平安が必要だとは、思わないだろうか。
Do you not think the world needs peace as much as you do?

自分で受け取りたいと望んでいるように、その平安をこの世に与えたいと望んではいないだろうか。
Do you not want to give it to the world as much as you want to receive it?

もしそうでなければ、あなたもそれを受け取らないだろう。
For unless you do, you will not receive it.

もし平安を私から手に入れたいのなら、あなたはそれを与えなければならない。
If you want to have it of me, you must give it.

癒しは他のだれからくるのでもない。
Healing does not come from anyone else.

内面からの導きを受け入れる必要がある。
You must accept guidance from within.

そうした導きをあなたが望むのでなければならない。さもないと自分にとって無意味なものとなってしまう。
The guidance must be what you want, or it will be meaningless to you.

だから、いわば癒しは協力して行う冒険のようなもの。
That is why healing is a collaborative venture.

私はあなたに何をするように、と言える。しかしあなたは、私があなたは何をすべきなのかを分かっている、と信じて協力しなければならない。
I can tell you what to do, but you must collaborate by believing that I know what you should do.

ただその後、あなたの心は私に従うことを選ぶであろう。
Only then will your mind choose to follow me.

この選択なしでは、あなたは癒しに反して決めたことになるし、そのうえあなたのために私が決めることを、このように拒否すると癒しを不可能にするので、癒されることはできないだろう。
Without this choice you could not be healed because you would have decided against healing, and
this rejection of my decision for you makes healing impossible.




癒しは我々の意志が一つであることを反映する。
Healing reflects our joint will.

癒しは何のためなのか、それをよく考えればこれは明らかだ。
This is obvious when you consider what healing is for.

癒しは分離を乗り越える方法である。
Healing is the way in which the separation is overcome.

分離は和合することで乗り越えられる。
Separation is overcome by union.

別々になっていては乗り越えられない。
It cannot be overcome by separating.

一つになるとの決心は疑う余地のないものでなければならない。さもないと心そのものが分割され完全ではなくなる。
The decision to unite must be unequivocal, or the mind itself is divided and not whole.

あなたの心は自分自身の状況を決定する手段だ。心こそものごとを決める働きをもつのであるから。
Your mind is the means by which you determine your own condition, because mind is the mechanism of decision.

心は力であり、それによって分かれたり一つになったりし、それに伴って苦痛を感じたり喜びを感じたりする。
It is the power by which you separate or join, and experience pain or joy accordingly.

私の決心があなたのを負かすことなどできない。あなたの決心は私のと同じように強力であるから。
My decision cannot overcome yours, because yours is as powerful as mine.

もしもそうでなければ、神の子たちは同等ではないことになってしまう。
If it were not so the Sons of God would be unequal.

我々が心を合わせて決心すれば、すべては可能だが、私のだけではあなたを助けることはできない。
All things are possible through our joint decision, but mine alone cannot help you.

あなたの意志は私のと同様に自由であり、神自らさえそれに逆らうようなことはしない。
Your will is as free as mine, and God himself would not go against it.

神の意図しないことを私が意図することはできない。
I cannot will what God does not will.

私は自分の力をさしのべて、あなたのを打ち負かせないほどの力にできるが、あなたの決心には反対できない。そんなことをすればそれと競り合わずにはいられないし、そのうえ神があなたのために意図することに背むいてしまう。
I can offer my strength to make yours invincible, but I cannot oppose your decision without competing with it and thereby violating God's Will for you.




神が創造したものは何一つあなたの決心に反対できないし、同様に神が創造したものは何一つ神の意志に反対できない。
Nothing God created can oppose your decision, as nothing God created can oppose His Will.

神があなたの意志にその力を授けたのであり、私はそれを神の意志を尊重してただ承認できるだけだ。
God gave your will its power, which I can only acknowledge in honor of His.

もしあなたが私のようになりたいなら、手助けするつもりでいる。あなたは私にそっくりだとわかっているのだから。
If you want to be like me I will help you, knowing that we are alike.

もしそうなりたくないのなら、あなたが自分の心を変えるまで待っていよう。
If you want to be different, I will wait until you change your mind.

私は教えることはできるが、その教えに耳を傾けることを選べるのはあなただけだ。
I can teach you, but only you can choose to listen to my teaching.

もし神の王国が自由そのものだとすれば、ほかにどんなやり方があるだろうか。
How else can it be, if God's Kingdom is freedom?

自由は、どのようであれ圧政によっては学べるものではないし、神の子はみんな完全に平等であることが、一つの心が他の心を支配する状態においては気づけるはずはない。
Freedom cannot be learned by tyranny of any kind, and the perfect equality of all God's Sons cannot be recognized through the dominion of one mind over another.

神の子の意志は同等だ。みんなが御父の意志であるから。
God's Sons are equal in will, all being the Will of their Father.

これこそ私が教えにきた唯一の教訓である。
This is the only lesson I came to teach.




もしもあなたの意志が私のでないとすれば、それは我々の御父のではないだろう。
If your will were not mine it would not be our Father's.

これはあなたが自分の意志を閉じ込めてしまって、それを自由にさせていないことを意味する。
This would mean you have imprisoned yours, and have not let it be free.

あなたは自分自身では何もできない、自分自身としては、あなたは全く実存しないのだから。
Of yourself you can do nothing, because of yourself you are nothing.

私は御父なしには実存しないし、あなたは私なしには実存しない、というのも御父を否定することであなたは自分自身を否定するからである。
I am nothing without the Father and you are nothing without me, because by denying the Father you
deny yourself.

私はいつもあなたを憶えておくつもりだし、そうして憶えておくうちに、あなたが自分自身を憶えているということが見いだせる。
I will always remember you, and in my remembrance of you lies your remembrance of yourself.

互いに憶えておくうちに、二人が神を憶えていることを見いだせる。
In our remembrance of each other lies our remembrance of God.

そしてこのことを思い出すと、あなたの自由は神のうちにあるので、自分は自由だとわかる。
And in this remembrance lies your freedom because your freedom is in Him.

では、私と一緒に、神と神に創造されたあなたとを賛美しようではないか。
Join, then, with me in praise of Him and you whom He created.

こうすることが我々の神にたいする感謝の贈り物となるし、それを神は自ら創造したすべてのものと分かち合い、神自身が受け入れるに値するものは何でも平等に与えようとするる。
This is our gift of gratitude to Him, which He will share with all His creations, to whom He gives equally whatever is acceptable to Him.

我々のそうした贈り物は神に受け入れてもらえるので、それは自由の賜物であり、それを神は神の子みんなのために意図している。
Because it is acceptable to Him it is the gift of freedom, which is His Will for all His sons.

自由を差し伸べることによって、あなたは自由になれるのである。
By offering freedom you will be free.

自由こそあなたが神の子たちに差し出せる唯一の贈り物。それこそ神の子が何であり、神が何であられるかを承認することであるから。
Freedom is the only gift you can offer to God's Sons, being an acknowledgment of what they are and what he is.

自由とは創造である。それが愛なのだから。
Freedom is creation, because it is love.

だれかを閉じ込めようとするなら、あなたはその人を愛してはいない。
Whom you seek to imprison you do not love.

したがってあなたがだれかを閉じ込めようとするときには、自分自身をも含んで、その人を愛していないし、一体感など持つことはできない。
Therefore, when you seek to imprison anyone, including yourself, you do not love him and you cannot identify with him.

自分を閉じ込めようとするなら、あなたは本当に私と同一であり、また御父とも同一であるということを見失っている。
When you imprison yourself you are losing sight of your true identification with me and with the Father.

あなたは御父ならびに御子と（本来は）一体である。
Your identification is with the Father and with the Son.

一方とはそうであり、もう一方とはそうでないということはできない。
It cannot be with One and not the Other.

もしあなたが一方の部分なら、もう一方の部分でもあるに違いない。その両者は一体なのだから。
If you are part of One you must be part of the Other, because They are One.

三位一体が神聖であるのは、まさに一つのすがたとなっているからである。
The Holy Trinity is holy because It is One.

もしあなたがこのように和合することから自分自身を除外すると、三位一体は分離したものだと見て取っている。
If you exclude yourself from this union, you are perceiving the Holy Trinity as separated.

あなたはその三位一体に含まれているに相違ない。それがすべてであるから。
You must be included in It, because It is everything.

そのなかであなたが本来あるべき場について、その一部として自分の役目を果たさないかぎり、三位一体はあなたと同様に取り残されている。
Unless you take your place in It and fulfill your function as part of It, the Holy Trinity is as bereft
as you are.

この三位一体の真理を知るためには、どの部分も閉じ込められてはいられないのである。
No part of It can be imprisoned if Its truth is to be known.
